Hippocratic doctors, one of the most influential schools in ancient Greece's medicine, wrote about the many advantages of massage. Hippocrates describes massage in detail in his Meditations. Hippocrates is of the opinion that wise doctors are competent to apply and receive massage, noting that Aristotle's didn't. According to Hippocrates, a wise physician should be able to tell the signs that a condition is starting, when it is already in full swing, and how it will affect the body before it affects other areas. He notes that a good doctor should also be able to utilize all the ranges of touch to make sure that all parts of the body are taken care of.

In the Hellenistic period, another significant character in the history of Greek medicine doctorcles were brought out from Egypt and Asia and became the most common tool used by doctors in the Greek city-state. They began to use the technique of massage on patients suffering from various ailments who could not otherwise afford to treat them themselves. According to the physiciancles of old Greece, a part of our body needs to be massaged frequently to maintain its health. Although the Hippocratic doctors abandoned this practice, it hasn't completely disappeared.
